Who We Are
Rural Oklahomans for Access to Care (ROAC) is a 501c4 dedicated to ensuring that all Oklahomans have access to affordable, quality and accessible healthcare. ROAC is particularly focused on ensuring Rural Oklahomans enjoy the same access and opportunity that residents of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro have when assessing their healthcare needs. Rural Oklahoma currently suffers from a lack of providers, lack of transportation, lower income, and an increasingly aging population.
Issues We Fight For
ROAC has focused on specific issues such as Test and Treat opportunities for pharmacists, independent practice authority for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, any willing provider status for practitioners willing to invest and practice in rural Oklahoma, and proper reimbursement for providers within the Oklahoma Managed care system and Sooner Care system.
These specific policy changes along with many others which quickly arise have a tremendous impact on patients’ ability to access care. At times, rural Oklahomans may also rely heavily on tools like mail order drugs and telemedicine. Often, rural Oklahomans feel the immediate impact of groups who argue for the “perfect delivery system” rather than understanding the value of empowering the current providers who service much of rural Oklahoma.
Our Collaboration
ROAC welcomes participation in our policy development program and membership to help carry the fight to our state Capitol. Rural Oklahoma remains a vibrant and economically viable place to work, invest, and raise a family. Access to health care remains the most important single issue to continue the opportunity to succeed here. Success in Rural Oklahoma ensures the success of all of Oklahoma!
We welcome your involvement towards our shared success.
Our Expertise
ROAC is made up of a board of directors who specialize in policy and health care delivery in rural Oklahoma. We have experts in pharmacy, nursing, physician assistance, and rural economics. We fight to ensure that traditional delivery methods as well as new technology are available across the state. We will continue to fight for incentives that place more potential providers in affordable professional programs and to locate their services in rural Oklahoma.
